Morris County Head Start Program Interior & Exterior Alterations

Project Overview

MFS Construction provided professional construction management consulting services for the County of Morris to aid in the management of Interior and Exterior Alterations to an existing county building set to house the County’s Head Start Program. The Head Start Community Program of Morris County partners with families to provide comprehensive support for child development and school readiness as a federally funded child development program. This program currently provides services to pregnant women and children ranging from birth to 5 years of age. The County utilized MFS for professional management services during the pre-construction, construction, and close out phases. MFS was responsible for handling all contract administration, cost management, risk and claims, and providing inspection and reports of work in progress.

Project Details

During the pre-construction and construction phases of each project, MFS was responsible for all project management and contract administration activities. MFS provided full time, on-site certified personnel to perform functions such as record keeping, schedule monitoring, document control, financial management, claim & dispute management, construction inspections, safety monitoring and closeout/ commissioning. MFS frequently administered coordination meetings with the county, architecture and engineering firms, and contractors to ensure timely progression of the project.

MFS additionally coordinated with the County and the project’s A&E firm to complete a close-out program that documented the completion of project punch-list. MFS advised the County of Morris on a variety of issues related to the project’s completion, ensuring stakeholders were aware of the necessary procedures to close out contracts, obtain permits, and occupy newly built spaces. MFS managed all project documents and correspondence via web-based document control system with all documents being turned over to the client upon project completion.
